Non National Drug Code (NDC) Medications

Providers can enter generic and over-the-counter drugs on the patient’s medication list under the Clinical Summary tab of the patient's chart.  A message appears at the top of the “Add Prescription” window that states, “The medication you are prescribing is either generic or OTC and therefore does not have a unique National Drug

Code (NDC) identifier.  These medications will display on the patient’s Medication list, but cannot be included in the drug interaction or allergy warnings, or electronically prescribed by the pharmacy.  Instead, the medication will be electronically faxed to the pharmacy by Rcopia or you can print it.  Please proceed thoughtfully.”
