Refill Prescription from Medication List

The Pending refills banner on the patient's medication list allows you to launch the Rcopia refill review (eRX Messages) page directly from the patient’s chart.  An orange banner appears at the top of the patient’s medications list and contains the electronic renewal (refill) requests generated by the pharmacy and sent to the prescriber for approval.  The number next to the banner name is the number of waiting refills for the prescriber.  The prescriber has 72 hours to act on the request.  If no action is taken by that time, the refill request will expire and automatically be removed.

Step 1: Go to the Clinical Summary tab under the appropriate patient’s chart

Step 2: Click Pending refills

Step 3: Change the Status to “Completed” and modify the date range

Step 4: Select the renewal and the renewal details will display

Step 5: Select Renew from the ACTION dropdown

NOTE: After the Renew action is selected, the record will turn green and the Send button will be enabled.  Multiple orders can be renewed at one time.

Step 6: Enter any response notes or comments, if needed

Step 7: Review prescription details and click Send

NOTE: After clicking on the “Send” button, all the selected approved renewals requests are signed and sent to the pharmacy.  The renewal will appear as a prescription medication on the patient’s medication list in OneView and Rcopia.
