The medical director must ensure that all policies and procedures relative to patient admissions, patient care, infection control and safety are adhered to by all individuals who treat patients in the facility, including attending physicians and non-physician providers.
At each area of the facility visited:
- Keep in mind: CMS allows for a surveyor to cite a medical director for lack of oversight if it appears insufficient time was devoted to their responsibilities.
- Ask yourself: Would you be proud of what you see? Would you recommend a loved one to dialyze here?
