More Frequent Dialysis (MFD) is prescribed to treat an HHD patient's specific clinical condition through more frequent treatments (i.e., four or more a week).
The prescribing physician will determine the required treatment frequency based on medical necessity. Although home hemodialysis is often prescribed with a more frequent schedule, the physician must evaluate the individual clinical needs of each patient and consider both the potential benefits and risks. While there could be potential quality of life and physiological benefits to MFD, there is also a risk of a possible increase in vascular access procedures and the potential for hypotension during dialysis.

The More Frequent Dialysis (MFD) section in the HHD Encounter contains each diagnosis from the CWOW order, if you have chosen to prescribe MFD for your HHD patient.
Each diagnosis will be pre-populated and listed separately within the section.
Beneath the individual diagnosis, the physician can select whether this is a new or existing condition being managed by MFD. |
The Additional Comments text box allows free-text comments or the use of snippets.
Notify a CWOW care team member if the diagnosis list is inaccurate. After the CWOW order update, refresh the encounter note for the most recent data.

This functionality is supplemental and not a replacement of the existing HHD Order Justification (HOJ) Form process.

The encounter PDF will contain diagnosis and comments under the More Frequent Dialysis (MFD) section. If there are no documented justifications, nothing will display on the PDF.
